Behind Sakhrani

From the heart of Yanbaru, Sakhrani Distillery gives Okinawa a voice in the world of Japanese whisky.

Founded by Sabrina Sakhrani, who moved from Italy to Okinawa over 27 years ago, and Ayako Ikehara, the daughter of a five-generation distilling family, Sakhrani is Okinawa’s first female-led distillery.

Two journeys - one driven by vision, the other by heritage -converged to create something the world had never seen before.

For Ayako, distillation is instinctive, an art passed down through her family’s mastery of Awamori. For Sabrina, whisky was always personal - a passion inherited from her father, and a dream to share Okinawa with the world. Together, they united courage and craft, heritage and innovation, to bring Sakhrani to life.
